Halloween Safety Tips

Adults:

1. Don't let your guard down. Halloween is not an excuse to throw caution to the wind. Keep an eye on your belongings (that includes your drink!) and skip the "monster" punch bowl.

2. Stay in groups. You may be dressed like Wonder Woman, but that doesn't mean you have superhero powers. Stick with your friends to prevent being in an unsafe situation and check in with one another at the end of the night to make sure you all get home safe and sound.

3. Watch out for your friends, and don’t be afraid to intervene if a situation appears to be scaring your friend or is frightening you. If your friend seems too intoxicated or is acting abnormally, get him or her to a safe place immediately.

4. The beaten path is the better path. Halloween isn't the time to take shortcuts down any dark alleys. Be sure to stay on lit, trafficked roads when possible.

5. Have a safety net. Always carry your keys in your hands when walking to your vehicle, and consider adding pepper spray to your key chain. Have your cell phone ready, and in a true emergency, dial 911.
