Individual Volunteer Opportunities
At The Haven, we have three types of volunteering available:
Community Outreach Volunteers/ Indirect Service Volunteers
Donation Volunteers
Direct Service Volunteers
Community Outreach Volunteers
If you would like to Volunteer with The Haven, but do not have the time to volunteer every week, consider becoming a Community Outreach Volunteer. Our Outreach Volunteers help with fundraisers, events, and booths. Sign up for our email list by contacting our Volunteer Coordinator, and follow our blog for more volunteer updates! Simply sign up for a volunteer opportunity as you are able.
Donation Volunteers
At The Haven, we depend heavily on volunteers to help with our Donation Program. We use volunteers to assist with donation pick-ups from local donors, moving clients into new homes, and sorting donations in our donation house. Volunteering with donations may be done on a weekly basis, or as you are available.
Direct Service Volunteers
Our Direct Service Volunteers are the only volunteers who work directly with clients in the shelter. Direct Service Volunteers provide a number of services:
-
Offer Childcare
-
Answer the Crisis Line
-
Lead a Workshop or Fun Activity for the Women
-
Lead an Arts and Crafts Project for the Women and/or Children
-
Cook a Meal
-
Bake a Birthday Cake
Third Party Events and Projects
A great way to help while having a good time is to host a special awareness or fundraising event for The Haven. You may also consider doing a special “project” including a donation drive or special gifts for the women and/or children. If you are interested in hosting a third party event or project, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator
